Restful sleep is very important for our concentration, physical condition and especially our health.
We have created 5 tips for your restful sleep in summer:
Light food and lukewarm drinks
In the evening, eat food that is easy to digest! Heavy, fatty and protein-rich foods, such as meat, quickly make us sweat. Avoid large portions and eat smaller meals more often throughout the day.
Fruits and vegetables with a high water content (e.g. apples, cucumbers, peppers, tomatoes or melons) also help to refresh your fluid balance. Salads, cold soups or pasta salads are delicious and are also suitable as a refreshing main course.
To meet our fluid needs, we should not only drink enough water throughout the day, but also before going to bed. A glass of lukewarm water before bed provides our body with enough fluids for the night.
Take a lukewarm shower
As with eating and drinking, a lukewarm shower also helps you cool down more in the long term. If we drink and shower too cold, the blood vessels contract, the blood circulation is stimulated and the body signals that it needs to warm up. A lukewarm shower in the evening relaxes our muscles and we don't sweat.
Is it still too warm under the duvet? Fill a hot water bottle with cold water and put it in the fridge for 1-2 hours. Cover the vessel with fabric and place it at your feet. This provides a pleasant cooling effect when your feet feel hot and you can't sleep.
Essential oils and sprays
An insider tip for a refreshment in between is lavender, as an essential oil or refreshing body spray.
Proper clothing and bedding
Despite higher temperatures in the bedroom, we recommend wearing nightwear and not sleeping naked. The body can cool down significantly when the window is open. The pajamas also absorb sweat and the bedding stays hygienically clean for longer.
Air-permeable, breathable and climate-regulating clothing and Bedding with climate fibers and outer fabrics made from natural materials such as cotton, TENCEL™ and hemp are ideal for hot summer nights.
Particularly hemp absorbs more moisture and faster than cotton and doesn't feel "wet".
Cotton satin has a pleasantly cooling effect on the skin and is very easy to care for. TENCEL™ Lyocell , made from natural wood fibers, absorbs moisture efficiently, has a soft feel and is particularly suitable for sensitive skin.
Remove heat sources in the bedroom
To prevent the bedroom from becoming further heated by devices such as computers, laptops or charging cables, they should be removed. Light sources in the lamps, which radiate a lot of heat, can be replaced with LEDs.
Close windows and doors during the day to keep the heat out. If you have large windows, we also recommend closing the roller shutters, blinds or curtains. When the temperatures drop in the evening, open the windows again and let in cool fresh air.
If you want to sleep with the window open, avoid drafts and use fly screens to protect yourself from mosquitoes, flies, wasps and other insects that could rob you of your sleep.
So that you are fit and well rested to enjoy the warm summer days!
